Sie sind ein Teil der Appalachen. Der zu ihnen geh\u00f6rige Mount Mitchell ist mit einer H\u00f6he von 2037 m die h\u00f6chste Erhebung Nordamerikas \u00f6stlich des Mississippi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auf den Blue Ridge Mountains verl\u00e4uft der Blue Ridge Parkway.  Er ist eine als National Scenic Byway  ausgewiesene Panoramastrasse, die 469 Meilen (755&nbsp;km) l\u00e4ngs der Blue Ridge Mountains f\u00fchrt. Der Parkway wurde w\u00e4hrend der Great Depression ab 1935 im Rahmen des New Deals als Arbeitsbeschaffungsmassnahme erbaut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/jellyfish.li\/jellyfish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/40BlueridgeParkway-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1271\"\/><figcaption>Blue Ridge Parkway vom h\u00f6chsten Punkt 6054 ft (1&#8217;845 m.\u00fcM.)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/jellyfish.li\/jellyfish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/41BlueridgeParkway-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1272\"\/><figcaption>Blue Ridge Parkway<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Am heutigen Tag durchfuhren wir nur einen kleinen ersten Teil des Parkway, zwei weitere Etappen haben wir f\u00fcr morgen und \u00fcbermorgen geplant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00dcbernachtet haben wir in Marshall, einem kleinen Ort bei Asheville, das &#8222;Bed und Breakfast&#8220; war vorz\u00fcglich und mit viel Charme eingerichtet, was etwas im Gegensatz zum Ort stand.
