Das n\u00e4chste Ziel hiess Charleston (SC), zum Gl\u00fcck blieb das Wetter weiterhin fr\u00fchsommerlich angenehm warm. Die rund 3 1\/2 &#8211; st\u00fcndige Fahrt verk\u00fcrzten wir uns mit dem Besuch auf einer der vielen Plantagen:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1462\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1462\" style=\"width: 840px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-1462\" src=\"http:\/\/jellyfish.li\/jellyfish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/0EC7DACC-9DD1-483E-B9CC-33ADBD639072-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1462\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Main-House Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Die Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation war urspr\u00fcnglich eine Farm die Reis anbaute, ein Gesch\u00e4ft, das nur durch den Einsatz von Sklaven rentabel betrieben werden konnte. Nach Ende der Sklaverei wurde die Farm auf Milchwirtschaft umgestellt, sie blieb in Familienbesitz bis 1973 als die letzte der Familie, Ophelia Dent, starb.\u00a0Die Plantation hiess Hofwyl, weil einer der fr\u00fcheren Besitzer in der Schweiz studiert hatte.<\/p>\n<p>Typisch f\u00fcr die Plantage sind auch die vielen \u201eLive Oaks\u201c, die mit Moos behangen sind und viele hundert Jahre alt werden.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-1463\" src=\"http:\/\/jellyfish.li\/jellyfish\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/487B5B6B-4AAB-43E3-A711-225789184C0A-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Die sch\u00f6ne Zeit im S\u00fcden ging heute schon wieder vorbei, wir machten uns auf den Weg Richtung Norden.
